Niki Flacks’ impressive career as director, actor, teacher, psychologist, spans both sides of the Atlantic.
As a Director, she has staged productions of Love in the Insecurity Zone, May Contain Nuts (Hen & Chickens), Measure for Measure, Importance of Being Earnest (New Players/ Charing Cross Theatre), The Kindness ofStrangers and Star Power (UK Premiere, Landor), Three Sisters, The Children’s Hour, Strindberg’s The Father, Anhouil’sAntigone (Cockpit) in London and in the US, Kithless in Paradise (Lion Theatre, Broadway) Beauty Queen of Leenane, Absurd Person Singular, Old Times and The Seagull, amongst others.
As an actress, she co-starred on Broadway in Private Lives (with Dame Maggie Smith, directed by Sir John Gielgud),Candide (directed by Harold Prince) Dinner at Eight (directed by Sir Tyrone Guthrie)and Spokesong (directed by KennethFrankel) and opposite Richard Chamberlain in the off-Broadway West Side Story and Leonard Nimoy in Fiddler on the Roof and Henry Winkler inOff the Wall. She starred as the infamous Karen Woleck on One Life toLive, as well as countless TV guest appearances and films.
Flacks was a frequent tutor at the Actors Centre in London’s West End and at TheProducers Club in New York. She was invited to Israel by the BritishCouncil to train both professional actors and promising student-actors. Her popular workshops in Paris led to her invitation to be part of the prestigious faculty of European A.C.T. teaching actors in London, Paris andBerlin. She has been an assistant professor of theatre at Southern MethodistUniversity and holds a B.S. from Northwestern University and an M.S.W. from TheUniversity of Texas at Arlington.
She is author of the book, PowerTalk, Macmillan Publishing Co. andfounder of The Bergerac Company, where she developed corporate training bycombining theatre skills, psychology and neuroscience. Bergerac’s flagshipprogram, PowerTalk, has been taught all over the world.
Her book “Acting with Passion” was published in2015, by Methuen Drama.
