Do you want to get out of your head?
Are you looking for a reliable, practical acting technique?
Are you looking for a deeply joyful, authentic process that allows you to become fully present in your body and responsive to your partner?
Do you want to revive the love you have for your craft with one of the industry’s leading teachers?
Our part-time, year-long Meisner training follows a modular format that allows the actor to sign up for one, two, or all three modules at the outset – or to pick up subsequent modules later if their circumstances change.
The course is designed to give you all the information you need during one weekday session plus the Saturday session. You are, however, welcome to attend all three sessions each week. Our focus is on offering you high quality information rather than the quantity of time we take to do it, so classes may run longer or shorter on occasion.
We offer entry points in January and October each year. The training is flexible to accommodate the unpredictable nature of an actor's career and personal life; you can defer modules after starting the program to align with new projects, roles, or necessary breaks, ensuring a balance between professional commitments and your learning journey.

We schedule informal chats to get to know prospective students, helping us understand your background and interests. Simply fill out the questionnaire below, and our administrator, Erica Chestnut will set up a casual conversation with Scott.
After this chat, an offer letter will be sent, detailing all dates, expectations, and payment options to register your place.
Please read through our terms and conditions before applying.
There are 3 sessions in total - an afternoon and evening session on a weekday, and a Saturday class. New information is introduced on the Saturday. We suggest attending all 3 to get the most out of the training, but understand that is not always possible, in which case you could attend one of the single weekday sessions (3.30pm or 6pm) and the Saturday. It is not advised to miss the Saturday session.
Once you have signed up and paid your deposit, you have access to all three modules at a time that suits you. Whilst most people tend to do their 3 modules one after the other, occasionally an actor may book a job, or life happens, and you need to put it on hold. Let us know that you need to defer, and when you would like to jump back in, and we will find a place for you.
We use Wise for our international payments, and can accept payments by card and/or in Euros and US and Australian dollars as well as sterling. Contact us if you wish to pay in another currency. Read more about paying by credit card with Wise.
The course is divided into three modules of eight weeks each. The course is designed to give you all the information you need during one weekday session plus the Saturday session. You are, however, welcome to attend both weekday sessions depending on your availability. Our focus is on offering you high quality information rather than the quantity of time we take to do it, so classes may run longer or shorter on occasion.
The course is designed and taught by Impulse Artistic Director Scott Williams with occasional substitution, principally by Trine Garrett, Jacqui-Lee Pryce or Michael Gilhooley.
Class sizes vary from year to year but are unlikely to consist of more than 20 people. Between eight and 15 has been the average over the 20 years we’ve been running the course.
Because the Technique is experiential, classes are practical and are, we believe, unique in the amount of personal tuition and feedback you’ll receive.
The majority of students will begin with Module 1, Living Truthfully. Even if you’ve done an introductory course with us, or elsewhere, it can only give you a flavour of what the Technique can deliver.
Students who have already have a significant body of experience with The Impulse Company may begin with either Module 2 – The Given Set of Circumstances – or Module 3 – A State of Aliveness, using it as a showcase opportunity, with Scott’s agreement.
